Former USSR Countries:In March of 2011, we enjoyed hosting our third group through Open World. This group of five extremely passionate legislatorsfrom Ukraine met daily with former US Congressman Harry Mitchell, whoanswered their questions and helped them process the previous day'smeetings as well as understand the Arizona and US systems of government.They met with state legislators, Federal Judge Schroeder, attendedlegislative district meetings, Tea Party meetings, and met with membersof the Valley Interfaith Project.We hosted ten educational leaders from former USSR countries Open Worldfor the first time in 2003. While here they spoke with our Arizona Houseand Senate education committee members and our state Superintendent ofEducation. They also visited elementary schools, high schools and colleges.They saw schools on the Pima reservation and schools for special needschildren.In 2008, we were chosen again to be the designated hosts for the U.S.Congress-authorized Open World Program which brings emerging leaders tothe United States to expose them to American democracy and free enterprisein action. Our most recent guests were all involved in public relationsand the media in their home cities and states. They had the opportunity to learn how cities and counties get information out to the public as wellas visit local nonprofit organizations.X - CLOSE
Germany:We have been pleased to host many members of the Berlin, Germany chapter. World traveler Mechtild Lutze visited the Phoenix area, Flagstaff, and the Grand Canyon. Mechtild was impressed with the beauty of Arizona and the friendly home stay experiences. She had learned about our chapter from the Kasigkeit family, former Berlin presidents Robel and Radke who had visited us in previous years. X - CLOSE
Albania:The Arizona chapter also welcomed guests Mr. & Mrs. Genci Mucaj from Albania. Mr. Genci is the president of his chapter in Albania. Some of our members had met him at the PTPI World Conference in Kansas City and were so happy to see him again. The luncheon and cultural exchanges were especially enjoyed within our adult group. We were happy to share ideas about fund raising and charitable distributions done in our chapters. X - CLOSE
